Palma’s Puro Hotel in Palma Majorca, Spain
The most extravagant hotel I’ve stayed in recently was The Puro Hotel, Palma Majorca. The 26-room hotel is owned by Swede, Mats Wahlstrom, and looked very hip, like
Miami meets Vietnam but situated in Spain. It’s an old 18th century
town mansion on the outside but ultra chic and modern on the inside. The
entrance lobby was all whitewashed and the staff all looked like
models with casual uniform PURO t-shirts.
The rest of the hotel lounge was peppered with silks pillows,
candlesticks, guinea goose-feathered lampshades and Burmese mirrors. The room
was so minimalist and relaxing, and the most amazing thing in the room
was the Bose Wave sound systems, from which you can access up to 10,000
individual tracks. This saves you if you don’t like the music playing
around the hotel.
The hotel was very DISCO and the DJ at 9am gives you your wake up call with his chill out session! Sleep of course is the last thing on anyone’s minds so I went up to the roof to try and sleep, which has several canopied day beds and a plunge pool.
Who are the clientele? Well nobody over the age of 35, and mainly
fashionistas who love designer clothes. Very cool, topless, tattooed women with
model figures and men with shaved heads, mirrored shades and huge
muscles were all around. The hotel has designer
food too – champagne jelly, and Dashi pears.
